Dr. Scott is a general surgeon, and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. General surgery is an enormously varied field, which is why the training is so rigorous and so lengthy.
General surgeons commonly:
- Treat gallbladder disease (cholecystitis, gallstones, choledocholithiasis)
- Repair hernias of the abdominal wall and groin
- Perform all manner of abdominal surgery, like appendectomies for appendicitis and surgery to treat everything from colon cancer to diverticulitis
- Surgical management of acid reflux (GERD) and hiatal hernias
- Diagnose and treat breast cancer and breast disease
- Perform colonoscopy and upper endoscopy
